Etiquettes of Ziyarat: Respecting the Holy Sites

Visiting the holy sites (Ziyarat) in Mecca and Madinah is a profound spiritual experience. However, it is essential to observe proper adab (etiquette) to ensure our visits are respectful and spiritually fruitful.

Maintain Humility and Peace
When entering holy places, especially the Prophet’s Mosque, lower your voice and walk with humility using "Sakina" (tranquility). Avoid rushing or pushing others.

Supplication (Dua)
These sites are places where prayers are answered. Use your time to make sincere Dua for yourself, your family, and the Ummah. However, ensure that all worship is directed solely to Allah (SWT).

Respecting Boundaries
While it is emotional to be near the rawdah or the Kaaba, avoid innovations (Bid’ah) such as wiping clothes on walls for blessings or tying knots. Follow the Sunnah in all actions.

Cleanliness
Maintain physical cleanliness (Wudu) and wear clean, modest clothing. The sanctity of these places demands our best appearance and hygiene.
