The History of the Kaaba: From Ibrahim (AS) to Today

The Kaaba is the oldest House of Worship on Earth, built solely for the worship of the One True God, Allah. Its history is intertwined with the history of the Prophets.

The Construction
It was Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismail (AS) who raised the foundations of the House. As they built, they prayed: "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing." (Quran 2:127)

The Black Stone
The Hajar al-Aswad was brought down from Paradise and set into the corner of the Kaaba effectively as a starting point for Tawaf.

Reconstructions
Over centuries, the Kaaba has been damaged by floods and wars and rebuilt several times. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) participated in placing the Black Stone during a renovation by the Quraish before his Prophethood, displaying his wisdom and preventing a tribal war.

Today, it stands as the focal point for billions of Muslims, a symbol of unity and monotheism.
